"
My passion is helping people develop user-friendly bodies," as Thomason, BA, AAS, succinctly states. She is the owner of BT Breathing Training, LLC which focuses on using the BreathPlay method in order to provide respiratory care to as many people as possible. Her workplace is the world around her and according to Thomason, "There is no one specific facility for BreathPlay training. It is practiced in homes, offices, rehabilitation facilities, adult schools, public places such as malls, and of course, in parks and playgrounds."
(Lorraine Yablon, News-Line Publishing Vol. 6, No11/12 Nov/Dec 2007)

Betsy Thomason founded Adventures for Women in 1981 to promote her belief that the outdoors is the premier classroom.  In 2001, Betsy gave Adventures for Women to the members.  She is proud to say that today Adventures for Women is alive and well without her leadership.  It is now a New Jersey non-profit organization run by its members who love being active outdoors.  Learn more at www.AdventuresforWomen.org

Health & Fitness Outdoors, Inc, which Betsy started in the mid 1990s and ended in 2010, built upon the ideas that everyone values getting outside and that movement is an essential human need.  For the past ten years, Betsy’s work has been focused on teaching BreathPlay—thus, the new name BT Breathing Training, LLC.  Let there be no confusion—Betsy’s work is not just about breathing.  Betsy helps people use their body more effectively and efficiently by focusing on their outbreath

Betsy believes that regardless of our age or state of health, we all benefit by developing a keener mind/body relationship. Her love of being active outdoors led her to learn BreathPlay in 1987. Since then, Betsy has been applying BreathPlay in her life, first as a licensed New York State hiking guide and currently as a registered respiratory therapist.

"Without BreathPlay, I could not enjoy hiking and skiing", she says. "Over the years, BreathPlay has helped me to relax and be more confident about my abilities."

In her professional life, Betsy introduces BreathPlay to her clients, whether they are outdoor enthusiasts or people with respiratory problems. She has worked in intensive care and pulmonary rehabilitation. Since 2001 she has been working in respiratory home care, employed by Millennium Respiratory Services, Inc., helping people with neuromuscular diseases.

BreathPlay is an essential part of the protocol that includes non invasive mechanical ventilation. While the breathing machine reduces the work of breathing during sleep, BreathPlay gives people that essential sense of control needed for relaxation, stress management, and energy management while awake.

Betsy's daily walk using BreathPlay keeps her rarin' to go!
